ITOLS: Intro To Outdoor Leadership Skills

Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills
Your Council Training Committee invites you to participate in Scoutmaster Training. These skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program. This weekend of training provides Boy Scout Troop Leaders with the full range of basic skills needed to provide a quality program to the Scouts in their Unit meetings, while learning basic camp skills.
This course is being held at Camp Gorton from 7:00PM 4/23/21 until 12:00PM 4/25/21. Friday night check in is by 6:45 PM. This is REQUIRED for all Scoutmasters and Assistants to complete their basic training and recommended for Venturing leaders. This is an overnight training and participants will need to bring equipment for camping in your own tent. When registering online, be sure to look at the Outdoor Training Packing List to be sure you have the right gear for the weekend.
Participants who have already completed SM/ASM Specific do not need to arrive until 8:30 AM Saturday. However, Friday night accommodations are available and recommended for an additional $5.00.
The staff will help you learn how to guide your Troop and youth leaders at your weekly meetings, set up camp, cook outdoors, work with woods tools and rope, first aid, planning campfires, map and compass skills, hiking and packing techniques, nature identification, and “Leave No Trace”. Each session brings to life the pages of the Boy Scout Handbook and will increase your comfort level while giving you the confidence of a trained, skilled leader. The program also gives you the opportunity to meet & work with other Scout leaders from your area, make new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow Unit leaders.
Once registration is complete you will receive an email confirmation. If you do not get it, check your spam folder for a email from no-reply@247scouting.org.
