There are four Religious Emblem programs available for Catholic Scouts to earn, each emblem requires a Scout to obtain a manual for earning that emblem with the goal of completing requirements over the course of several weeks or months. Religious Emblems are not merely awards for completing a set of requirements but recognize a young person’s growth in faith and how they live out their Catholic faith. When a Scout completes the requirements for an emblem, the Scout is entitled to wear the Scouting America Religious Knot in addition to the earned Emblem. The goal of each Religious Emblem program is to provide an age-appropriate structure where Scouts can grow in faith and apply what they learn to their everyday life. Cub Scouts work with their parents on the Light of Christ or Parvuli Dei and will typically receive their emblem at Scout Sunday in February. All Scouts BSA work with a trained Religious Emblems Counselor on the Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII and will receive their award at the Catholic Annual Awards Ceremony at St. Joseph Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. on April 10th, 2027. Scouts that complete four Catholic Religious Emblem Programs will receive The Bishop’s Scouting Award.
