Range Safety Officer Class
The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
An NRA certified Range Safety Officer is required for many Scouting America shooting sports activities.
What you will learn:
- Introduction to the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Development Course
- The Role of the NRA Range Safety Officer and Range Standard Operating Procedures
- Range Inspection and Range Rules
- Range Safety Briefing
- Emergency Procedures
- Firearm Stoppages and Malfunctions
Participants must be at least 21 years old. In order to complete certification, individuals must participate in all six lessons and complete and earn at least a 90% grade on the range safety officer exam and then register on the NRA instructor site to submit the appropriate fees to the National Rifle Association.

COST: $40 Scouting America Members $80 General Public
NOTE: This course is open to the general public and members of Scouting America. Scouting America Members will have first choice if the course fills up. The course size is limited to 24 participants. Individuals who register after the course is closed will be placed on a waiting list.
