2026 Scouts Read Sacred Texts
Event Information
The Scout Oath begins with “I will do my best to do my Duty to God…
and the Scout Law ends with …” A Scout is Reverent”
On May 7, 2026, the U. S. National Day of Prayer, the Great Falls Council is again joining Scouts and youth around the world for the 2026 Scouts Read Sacred Texts event. This year the Council Religious Committees are offering the option to attend a free event on that date from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 5480 Main Street, Williamsville, NY 14221. The event will include presentations by Faith Leaders, Scouts reading from Sacred Texts and time to read privately from the Sacred Texts you bring to the event. The event will close with time to socialize. Light refreshments will be provided. If attending in - person, please register to participate via the in - person button.
If you cannot attend in-person, the event will be available by Live Stream Button
The other option is to register for the National Scouts Read Sacred Texts event and participate on either May 7, or anytime that week it is convenient.
Youth, their families, or Faith Leaders decide the specific texts to read. This could be from the Sacred Texts of your Faith Tradition, Devotional Prayers, Prayers of: Thanksgiving, Petition, Intercession, Adoration, or Faith or another Duty to God Activity.
Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, Sea Scouts and Explorers and other Youth are encouraged to participate in one of three ways:
- First, all are invited to read at home with their family.
- Second, ask your Faith Leader to read at their faith location.
- Third, all can read at your regular meeting place.

Finally, please invite friends and other youth groups to participate in one of these events.
