2026 Tuscarora Scout Reservation Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program

Build lifelong friendships, develop real leadership skills, and make a meaningful impact—all while enjoying everything that makes summer camp awesome. The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program at Camp Tuscarora offers a hands-on, two-week experience designed for Scouts who are ready to take the next step.
CITs grow as leaders through a mix of training, teamwork, and real-world experiences. The first week focuses on leadership development, teambuilding, and learning the fundamentals of working with campers. During their second week, participants apprentice in select program areas, support camp activities, and have the opportunity to earn 1–2 merit badges.
Scouts can choose between two CIT sessions:
- Session A:
- Week #1: July 5 – July 11, 2026
- Week #2: July 12 – July 18, 2026
- Session B:
- Week #3: July 19 – July 25, 2026
- Week #4: July 26 – August 1, 2026
A 24-hour break between weeks (Saturday to Sunday) gives participants time to head home, recharge, refresh and return ready for the second half of the program.
This is a free, volunteer-based summer camp program focused on developing youth leadership. While the full two-week experience is encouraged, only the first week is required—making it flexible for busy summer schedules.
Participants can also earn volunteer service hours while gaining valuable experience that prepares them for potential future roles on camp staff—all without the commitment of a full summer.
Eligibility: In accordance with national camp standards, all participants must be at least 14 years old and a registered Scout.
