Rifle Merit Badge
Event Details

The Range and Target Activities committee is hosting a Rifle Merit Badge Day at Camp Wakpominee on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026.
While earning their merit badge, Scouts will gain the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to safely handle, shoot, care for, and store a rifle. Scouts will demonstrate what they have learned using .22 LR bolt-action rifles from a supported benchrest position on Camp Wakpominee's beautiful 50 ft. Rifle Range!
Registration Details
- Cost – $15
- Registration is limited to 16 participants
- Participants must be at least 12 years of age
- Location – Rifle Range, Camp Wakpominee
- Start – 9:00 AM (please arrive at least 15 minutes early for registration)
- End – 4:30 PM
- Cost covers use of rifle, paper targets, ammunition, eye protection, hearing protection, and lunch.
Safety Notes
(Based on NYS, Scouting America, and Twin Rivers Council laws, rules, and guidelines.)
- Personal firearms are NOT allowed.
- Firearms will be provided by Twin Rivers Council/Camp Wakpominee.
- Eye and hearing protection is mandatory for ALL persons on the range (including staff, participants, and observers).
- Eye and hearing protection will be provided by Twin Rivers Council/Camp Wakpominee.
- All persons must ask permission before entering or leaving the range.
- Hand washing station and soap must be used before eating or leaving after handling firearms/cleaning supplies.
