BALOO & IOLS Leader Training @ Camp Trimount

Fall Outdoor Leader Training Weekend – IOLS & BALOO
Join us at Camp Tri-Mount for a full weekend of hands-on outdoor leader training designed to build confidence, strengthen skills, and prepare you to deliver a strong, safe, youth-focused outdoor program.
This weekend combines Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) and BALOO into one coordinated training event. Leaders simply register for the course that applies to their role, and both trainings run side-by-side throughout the weekend.
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is designed for Scouts BSA leaders and builds on Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training. This hands-on course provides practical outdoor skills through First Class rank while modeling the patrol method in action. Participants will practice cooking, knots, fire building, map and compass, and other essential outdoor skills while experiencing how a Scout-led troop operates. The course closely follows the Scouts BSA Handbook and advancement requirements, ensuring leaders leave confident and prepared to take youth safely into the outdoors.
BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is required training for any Cub Scout pack conducting outdoor events, including pack campouts and Webelos overnighters. BALOO includes an online prerequisite that must be completed prior to attending, followed by a hands-on overnight practical component. Leaders will learn Cub Scout camping policies, safety procedures, planning tools, and how to deliver a successful pack camping experience. Completion of BALOO is mandatory for at least one trained adult on every Pack overnighter.
