Wakpominee Adirondack Trek Expeditions Are Here!

WAK-Treks is a week long canoeing/fishing adventure program that is offered during July & August that is based at Camp Wakpominee.

Group adventures start on Saturday with an afternoon arrival at camp.  They will meet their highly trained guide who will lead them through getting equipment organized, required training review,  along with canoe practice including water rescue techniques and be with them for the entire week.

Crews are provisioned with all back country food and crew equipment.  Each participant must bring some basic high adventure personal equipment.

Trips depart either Sunday PM or Monday AM, following their pre-planned itinerary enjoying the views, wildlife and fishing opportunities throughout the Adirondack Forest preserve.

All Treks return to base camp on Friday PM, clean up crew gear and enjoy a relaxing evening before their drive for home on Saturday AM.

How Do I Register For a WAK Trek?

Should be made with a $100 deposit per participant.  Crew size should be a minimum total of 6 with no more than a maximum total of 8.

Youth participants must be a registered Scout, 13 years of age and completed the 8th grade.  Two leaders must be 21 years of age and be current in YPT certification.

Co-ed groups are required to include one male and one female advisor.  Trek leaders are assigned to every group and are certified with all NYS and Scouting America certification.

What Do I Need In Order to Trek at WAK?

• All participants must have a signed waiver / consent form along with current Scouting America ABC Medical Forms.  
• Each participant must have the classification of "swimmer" under Scouting America's swim requirements.
