Patriots Path Council Adventure Programs Merit Badge Offerings

Please see below for a current list of all Merit Badges offered through PPC Adventure Programs.  These merit badges will typically be offered at the Council Service Center (1 Saddle Road, Cedar Knolls) or one of our camps (Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation or Winnebago Scout Reservation).  Occasionally the merit badge will be at an off-site location.  Most of these merit badges will be completed on multiple dates as indicated in the individual registrations.  Attendance by the scouts is required at those dates to complete the merit badge unless otherwise arranged with the MB counselor. 

PPC Adventure Programs Presents:

ASTRONOMY MERIT BADGE

This merit badge is offered at the PPC Council Service Center as a three-session program on Tuesday evenings.  Attendance at all three sessions is expected to complete badge requirements. 

Kevin B. Alton, author of over 50 papers on variable stars and asteroids, will be the merit badge counselor for this program. 

Program dates:

Tuesday, October 18, 2022       5:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, November 8, 2022       5:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, November 22, 2022      5:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $20.00 per youth

Registration is limited to 8 Scouts. 

All sessions held in the Rufolo Room, PPC Service Center, 1 Saddle Road, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927 with outdoor telescope activities weather permiting. 

AUTO MAINTENANCE MERIT BADGE

Program Dates:

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 - 7:00 PM too 9:00 PM

Thursday, November 3, 2022 - 7:00 PM too 9:00 PM

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 10 Scouts.

First session will be held at the Tuney Lodge, Camp Somers MASR, 750 Waterloo Road, Stanhope, NJ 07874.  Second session will be held at Automotive Magic, 34 Berkshire Road, Kenvil, NJ.

Brian Kallok will be the merit badge counselor for this program.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY MERIT BADGE

Program Dates:

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Tuesday, November 22, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge. Scouts will need a personal laptop to participate in this merit badge activity.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 5 Scouts.

DISABILITIES AWARENESS MERIT BADGE

Program Dates: 

Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration limited to 10 scouts.

ELECTRICITY MERIT BADGE

ELECTRONICS MERIT BADGE

Cost: $40.00 per youth, includes the electronics kit.

Registration is limited to 10 Scouts.

ENGINEERING MERIT BADGE

Program dates:

Thursday, September 15, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Thursday, September 29, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 10 Scouts.

Both sessions held in Tuney Lodge, at Camp Somers MASR, 750 Waterloo Road, Stanhope NJ

Jay DeBoey will be the merit badge counselor for this program.

FAMILY LIFE MERIT BADGE

This merit badge is offered as a three-session program on Wednesday evenings.

Program Dates:

Wednesday, November 30, 2022- 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Wednesday, December 14, 2022- 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Attendance at both meetings above is required.

Third meeting:  Scouts must complete their 90 program requirements and then schedule a follow up meeting with the merit badge counselor to complete the badge.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 10 Scouts.

Sessions witll be held at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Street, Liberty Corner, NJ 07938.

Rev. Banabas Sprinkle will be the merit badge counselor for this program.

FIRE SAFETY MERIT BADGE AT CAMP SOMERS

Saturday, September 10, 2022- 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Saturday, September 17,  2022- 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 10 scouts.

FIRE SAFETY MERIT BADGE AT SUMMIT FIRE DEPT.

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 10 scouts.

Both sessions will be held at the Summit Fire Department located at 396 Broad Street, Summit NJ 07901

Risk Locke with be the merit badge counselor.

LAW MERIT BADGE

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 10 scouts.

METALWORK MERIT BADGE

Program Dates:

Tuesday, October 11, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Tuesday, October 18, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $25.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 8 scouts.

Both sessions held at Winnebego Scout Reservation Handicraft Pavilion, 102 Timberbrook Road, Rockaway, NJ 07866.

PLUMBING MERIT BADGE - SEPTEMBER

Scouts will learn the basics of plumbing, cutting pipe, sweating pipe, and repairing fixtures.

Thursday, September 22, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

PLUMBING MERIT BADGE - OCTOBER

SURVEYING MERIT BADGE

Program Date:

Saturday, October 15, 2022 - 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Lunch break from 12 PM to 1:00 PM- Bring your own lunch.

Morning session in Tuney Lodge afternoon session in the field.

Tuney Lodge is located at Camp Somers, MASR, 750 Waterloo Rd, Stanhope NJ.

Cost: $20.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 10 scouts.

Steven Smith is the merit badge counselor for this program.

WELDING MERIT BADGE

Program Dates:

Tuesday, October 25, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM 

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the merit badge.

Cost: $25.00 per youth.

Registration is limited to 8 scouts.
