2021 Merit Badge Introduction Workshop 900031

Event Details

Merit Badge Introduction Workshop: Classes available 8:00 am-12:15 pm on November 6, November 13, and December 11, 2021.

Patriots’ Path Council Advancement Committee is pleased to offer the 2021 Merit Badge Introduction Workshop in an exciting new MULTI-WEEKEND, VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON format that will allow Scouts and their parents to select the classes and participation method that works best for them. There will be a number of virtual classes all three weekends as well as some with in-person classes offered at two venues over the first two weekends. See the Class Schedule at right for specific details.

The purpose of the workshop is to introduce merit badges to Scouts and to help them understand the specific merit badge process. For most of the merit badges Scouts will be able to obtain a “partial” blue card but will not be able to complete the merit badge at this event. All supporting faculty will be available following the Workshop to provide follow-up support for Scouts to complete their badge(s).

Registration is $10, additional per class fees are listed in the Class Catalog.

Class list and schedule are in the Class Catalog and Class Schedule attachments list to the right.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR CLASSES. We cannot accommodate late registrations or changes for this event once a session has closed.

Registration for all sessions opens September 30, 2021 at 9:00 am

November 6th - registration closes on October 31st
November 13th - registration closes on November 7th
December 11th - registration closes on December 5th

Please use the Register button to the right to register for classes (there is only ONE button to register for all sessions). When selecting classes for your Scout, please keep a few things in mind:

  • All classes will display when you choose your Scout’s selections. Once a selection has been made, other classes running for that period(s) will automatically be removed from the selections.  Additional sessions of the same class will also be removed. For example, if you choose Sports for period 1 on November 6th, all other classes offered for 1st period on the 6th will be removed as well as all other sessions of Sports. This will prevent scheduling conflicts.
  • Several classes are offered more than once. The same material is covered in each class. You will not be able to sign up for more than one occurrence of any class.
  • If a class is full, you will not be able to select it. Please make another selection for that period. Class sizes are limited, we cannot make exceptions.
  • You will be able to register for classes for 1 day, 2 days or all 3 on the same registration.
  • The venue for each class is displayed in the title, For example, Golf-Winnebago Scout Reservation. If you are selecting classes for virtual AND in-person classes for your Scout, please allow enough time for travel before and after in-person classes.
  • If you click on the link to the right for Class Schedule, you will see a grid that shows when each class is offered. Please note, A indicates the first offering of a class, B is the second offering and C is the third, if applicable.

There are 4 1-hour periods during the day, each merit badge class is either 1 or 2 periodss in length. (NOTE: Classes for two merit badges, First Aid and Law, meet virtually TWICE, each for a one hour period on two separate Saturday mornings. See the Class Schedule for details.)

  • Period 1 meets from 8:00 am to 9:00 am
  • Period 2 meets from 9:05 am to 10:05 am
  • Period 3 meets from 10:10 am to 11:10 am
  • Period 4 meets from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm

Please see https://ppcbsa.org/committees/advancement/MBIWS2021/  for information about the event, organized for Scouts, parents and faculty. Important:

  • Each Scout MUST have a computer platform (no phones) in order to participate in the virtual classes.

  • Each Scout MUST check the Course Catalog (link above right) for any badge-specific prerequisites to complete ahead of class or materials or equipment to bring to the workshop.
