Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training 2025

To become trained as a scoutmaster or assistant scoutmaster, the following courses are required:
Youth Protection Training
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Position Specific Training
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training
Hazardous Weather Training – Effective April 30, 2018, leaders must complete Hazardous Weather Training to be considered position trained. Click Here for Instructions to Complete Hazardous Weather Training
There is no registration cost for this course, however registration is required. No walk-ins are allowed without advance permission of the course director.
There are resources available, such as the Troop Leader Guidebook, Volume 1 courseware for purchase through the Scout Shop.
Note: This is required training for all scoutmasters and assistant scoutmasters.

This course will show both new and experienced troop leaders how to apply proven techniques for running an effective Scouts BSA troop.

Participants will learn how to meet the Aims of Scouting by applying the 8 Methods of the Scouts BSA Program. Sessions will include:

What should I bring?
Proof of current, conpleted Youth Protection Training
Pen or pencil and paper for notes.
Wear your class A uniform if possible.
