PPC OUTDOOR ACADEMY is hosting a weekend campout for Scoutmasters, ASMs, Crew Advisors and Associate Advisors on Friday, June 21 through Sunday, June 23, 2018 at Camp Wheeler, part of Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Stanhope, NJ.

This is an opportunity to camp and share a weekend with other leaders, enjoy some adventure at Camp Wheeler, and most importantly, learn about developing a successful adventure program in your troop or crew.

You’ll arrive on Friday evening, set up your campsite, and meet other leaders and staff at the cracker barrel. Saturday and Sunday will include outdoor activities, informal discussions and informative sessions on a wide variety of adventure topics. Scouters with years of experience will be on hand to share their knowledge and experience in developing and running successful multi-tiered adventure programs, from beginner Tenderfoot day hikes and campouts to intermediate and advanced treks.

We’ll start with the basics, getting Scouts interested and guiding them in planning and carrying out age-appropriate adventure for their ability levels. We’ll discuss using the equipment they have now, and about the equipment they’ll need at the next levels. We’ll talk about the cost of adventure, and how to create great experiences within your Scouts’ budgets.

You’ll also do some fire building, some cooking, some hiking, some outdoor ethics and survival training, and have fun socializing and sharing stories with others.

This is a weekend dedicated to improving the program for your troop or crew, learning how to do things right, and taking it one level of adventure at a time.
