Merit Badge Introduction Workshop and Den Chief Training

A virtual event sponsored by Patriots’ Path Council Advancement Committee.

Opening ceremony at 8:00 AM, program ends at 1:10 PM.

The purpose of the workshop is to introduce badges to the Scouts and to help them understand the merit badge process.  For most of the merit badges, Scouts will be able to obtain a “partial” but will not be able to complete the merit badge at this event. All the supporting faculty will be available in the days following the Workshop to provide follow-up support for Scouts to complete their badge(s).

Registration opens Monday, September 21st at 9:00 am.

Registration closes Sunday, November 8 at 11:59 pm.

Registration is $10, additional per class fees are listed in the Class Catalog.

WE NEED PARENT MONITORS to help on the morning of the workshop.  If you or another parent can dial in on a separate computer, to monitor Scouts and help with attendance, please consider volunteering to be a Parent Monitor. Learn More.

Class list and schedule will be in the attachments list to the right.
Also offered:
Den Chief Supplement

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR CLASSES.

All registrations and changes must be completed no later than November 8, 2020. We cannot accommodate late registrations or changes for this event.

There are 4 sessions during the day--- Merit badge classes will either be 1 or 2 sessions in length.

Several classes are offered more than once. The same material is covered in each class. You will not be able to sign up for more than one occurrence of any class - each covers the same material.

Class sizes are limited to 20 Scouts.

Please see https://ppcbsa.org/committees/advancement/MBIWS2020/  for information about the event, organized for Scouts, parents and faculty. Important:

  • Each Scout must have a computer platform (no phones) in order to participate in the event.
  • Each Scout and a PARENT MUST connect to the opening ceremony at 8AM.  (In addition to meeting the staff and building Scout Spirit, this will help us identify and resolve any technology issues ahead of the Workshop.)
  • Each Scout MUST have a Scoutbook account and have their unit leader assign them to the lead badge counselor in order to receive credit for any requirements completed.
  • Each Scout MUST read and be familiar with the merit badge requirements before connecting to the class.
  • Each Scout MUST wear their Class A uniform and MUST keep their video camera on for the duration of each class.
  • Each Scout MUST check the Course Catalog (link above right) for any badge-specific prerequisites to complete ahead of class or materials or equipment to bring to the workshop.

PLEASE NOTE: Schedules, class descriptions and spaces left in each class are available in the attachments list at the right. For other inquiries about the event, contact ppbsambws@gmail.com.
