What is NYLT?

The purpose of NYLT is to provide training to youth members of Scouts BSA troops, Sea Scout ships and Venturing crews to be the best leaders in their home unit. 

National Youth Leadership Training conforms to all State of New Jersey camping standards. The State of New Jersey requires that unvaccinated individuals  provide proof of a negative COVID test completed 72 hours prior to arriving in camp and have a  midweek test provided on site by camp utilizing authorized personnel. Any participant who shows proof of vaccinations completed a minimum of two weeks before arriving on course will not need to provide COVID test results or be tested midweek.

Who may attend NYLT?

A registered Scouts BSA:

• 13 years of age but not older than 18 years of age.
• Scouts must have obtained First Class rank and completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops at their home unit.
• Highly recommended to have 1 year of summer camping experience.

or

Program eligible youth Venturers and Sea Scouts:

• 14 years of age but no older than 21 years of age.
• Completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews or Ships at their home unit.
• Highly recommended to have 1 year of camping experience. Highly recommended to have 1 year of summer camping experience.

When?

The June/July course will be June 27, 2021 through July 3 2021. Drop off will be at 8:00 am on Sunday and pick up will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

The August course will be August 8, 2021 through August 14, 2021. Drop off will be at 8:00 am on Sunday and pick up will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

The November Course will be 2 weekends.  Scouts MUST attend both sessions to be credited with completing the course. 

November 5-7, 2021. Drop off will be at 5:30 pm on Friday. Pick up is 2:00 pm on Sunday
AND
November 12-14, 2021. Drop off will be at 5:30 pm on Friday. Pick up is 3:00 pm om Sunday.

A Scout may not be dismissed early unless traveling to camp or for a medical/family emergency.

There is a required pre-course conference for parents/guardians, scoutmasters, venturing advisors, skippers and participants.

PLEASE NOTE: If your Scout is attending the November course, you should plan to attend the November Pre Course Conference as there will be DIFFERENT information presented than for the June/JULY and August courses.
