The May 16th session of Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Position Specific Training has been postponed. Please select one of the other available sessions.

To become trained as a scoutmaster or assistant scoutmaster, the following courses are required:

Youth Protection Training
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Position Specific Training
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training
Hazardous Weather Training – Effective April 30, 2018, leaders must complete Hazardous Weather Training to be considered position trained.  Click Here for Instructions to Complete Hazardous Weather Training

There is no registration cost for this course, however registration is required.  No walk-ins are allowed without advance permission of the course director.

The Troop Leader Guidebook, Volume 1  is required courseware and is available for purchase through the Scout Shop or can be available for purchase upon check-in for $13.00.

Note: This is required training for all scoutmasters and assistant scoutmasters.

Make your troop leader job EASIER and MORE FUN!  An enthusiastic, trained leader can make the difference between a troop that is struggling, and one that is ready to take on the world! This course will show both new and experienced troop leaders how to apply proven techniques for running an effective Scouts BSA troop.

 Junior assistant scoutmasters
 Committee members are welcome, too

What will I learn?

Participants will learn how to meet the Aims of Scouting by applying the 8 Methods of the Scouts BSA Program. Sessions will include:

Aims and Methods of Scouting
Role of the Scoutmaster
The Patrol Method
The Troop Meeting
Advancement
The Support Team
Annual Planning

What should I bring?
Pen or pencil and paper for notes.
Wear your class A uniform if possible.
Coffee and tea will be provided, please bring your own mug. "A Scout is Thrifty."
