Okpik Winter Camping Experience is intended to teach participants how to have fun in the cold!  In 2025 we are offering two levels of adventure; Snowbirds (12+) & Okpik Adventurers (14+)!  Each program is organized to help you acquire skills and experience which you can bring back to your Troop, Crew, or Ship. The Snowbirds program will participate in the outdoor program and skill building activities but sleep indoor both nights.  The Okpik Adventurers will build on their existing skills, participant in the winter programs, and sleep one night under the stars or in an Adirondack shelter!

UPDATE: 12/4/2024 - Okpik Winter Camping Experience has sold out, no spots remain.  If you would like to be added to the waitlist please email Tom Whelton (tom.whelton.crew200@gmail.com) with the names and program for the waitlist.  If there are any cancellations before 1/1/2026 the waitlist scouts will be contacted in the order they were added to the waitlist. 
 
Snowbirds program includes:  Shelter building, snowshoeing, cold weather cooking, winter games, ice fishing, hiking, snowshoe biathlon, night sky viewing & dog sledding. Open to all scouts, sea scouts & venturers ages 12+
 
Okpik Adventurers program includes:  Shelter building, snowshoeing, cold weather cooking, winter games, ice fishing, hiking, snowshoe biathlon, night sky viewing, sleeping outdoors & dog sledding.   Open to all scouts, sea scouts & venturers ages 14+ with Scoutmaster/ Advisor approval.
