Cold Weather Leader Training (Course H-105)

This advanced training course will develop the skills you require to enable youth program in cold weather conditions! Our team of instructors will cover all the key topics you need to understand to ensure a successful, fun and safe cold weather program experience for your Pack, Troop, Crew, Ship or Post!
This program will be presented in two sessions. On Saturday December13th 2025 there will be a classroom instruction session and skills training day (8:30am-5:30pm). The second session will be a practical skills camping weekend, Friday January 30th through Sunday February 1st 2026. During the practical skills weekend you will utilize the skills learned in the classroom as well as learn new skills which can only be learned in the field. Weatherpermitting, participants will have the option to sleep under the stars in the dead of winter or in snow shelter they build. To complete the course you must attend and complete both sessions. Participants who complete the course will receive the Okpik Insturctor designtion. This course is open to adult Scouting America Members (18+).
Youth interested in similar program should participate in Scouting America New Hampshire's Okpik Cold Weather Camping Experience weekend which will also run Friday January 30th through Sunday February 1st 2026 at Griswold Scout Reservation.

Cold weather program activities, Clothing & Sleeping Systems, Food, Water, Sanitation, Shelter building, Travel, First Aid, Homeostasis, Scouting America policies related to cold weather activities and programs.
