RATA NRA Range Safety Offer (RSO) Training

Event Details

NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO)

  • Manning Hall @ Camp Carpenter
  • Doors Open @ 7:30 am
  • RSO Class Runs 8 am-5 pm
  • In addition to the $ 60-course fee to cover student materials, supplies, water, coffee, and snacks (Students will bring their own lunch), students who complete the RSO course will need to register their credentials with the NRA for an additional fee of $60 every 2 years ($35/2yrs for NRA Members).

The Range Safety Officer is critical to maintaining a safe environment and is one of two required qualified supervision positions for any live-fire activities with Scouting American.  The Daniel Webster Council Range and Target Activities Committee will offer an NRA Range Safety Officer Court for registered Scouting America leaders (21+) interested in assisting scouts with shooting activities.

Participants should have a comfortable working knowledge of gun handling safety, including loading, unloading, and making safe standard action types of Pistols, Rifles, and Shotguns.  As this is an NRA course, participants will need to handle firearms and action types not normally used by scouts.

Non-NRA Members will be issued a non-member NRA Instructor ID number.
