What is Wood Badge?

Wood Badge is an advanced leadership training course open to all adult members of Scouting America including Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Explorers, as well as the district and council levels.

The purpose of Wood Badge is to develop skilled leaders who can strengthen Scouting units in achieving the mission of Scouting America.

Who can attend Wood Badge?

Each person participating in Wood Badge training must be a registered member of Scouting America and have completed the basic training courses for his/her Scouting position.

Additional Information

The course is limited to 48 participants. After the first 48, applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Acceptance from the waiting list will first be given to fully paid registrations.

Participants must provide a completed BSA Annual Health & Medical Record (Sections A, B, and C with a doctor’s signature). Health forms will be collected utilizing Camp Docs.  An email invite from Camp Docs will be sent to you within four (4) months of the course beginning.  Note Part C must be current and extend through the course completion of October 5, 2025.

Participants must complete a pre-course assignment which includes 5 online training modules (~30 minutes) and a pre-course questionnaire.

Weekend #1
Friday, September 19, 2025 (7:00 AM) to
Sunday, September 21, 2025 (6:00 PM)
 

Weekend #2
Saturday, October 4, 2025 (7:00 AM) to
Sunday, October 5, 2025 (6:00 PM)
 

This is an overnight training and participants are required to attend both weekends.

Location:

Griswold Scout Reservation, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH

Cost:  

  • $75.00 due at time of registration, but full payment will be gladly accepted
  • $315.00 early bird price, if paid by July 18, 2025
  • $340.00 full price, if paid after July 18, 2025
  • Financial assistance is available through the "Paul Grace Scholarship" for anyone who may need it.  A formal request must be made and submitted using the appropriate scholarship form using the following link or the attachments included on the registration page.

All balances must be paid in full by August 12, 2025

Course fee includes all meals, course materials, recognition items, and one t-shirt. Additional t-shirts may be purchased during registration.
