Event Details

Cub Leader Adventure Weekend (CLAW)
CLAW provides two trainings in one jam-packed, fun weekend,
- BALOO, or Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation, is a day and a half training course for Cub Scout leaders and parents that teaches the skills necessary to plan and conduct a safe and fun Cub Scout campout. The training consists of two parts: an online prerequisite course and an overnight, hands-on, in-person component. Topics covered include outdoor skills, health and safety, equipment, meal planning, and running campfire programs. This is an overnight training requiring participants to camp out. BALOO participants are required to take the online training and provide proof of completion prior to attendance. Part A and B of the BSA medical form will be required to be brought with you upon arrival.
- Cub Scout leader specific training provides new leaders with the knowledge and skills needed for their roles, such as Cubmaster, Den Leader, or Pack Committee member. The training covers an introduction to Cub Scouting, the responsibilities of their specific position, how to run effective meetings, and the overall Cub Scout program. While it can be completed online through the BSA Learn Center on my.scouting.org, this in-person training event offers the added benefit of meeting and sharing ideas with other leaders.
