National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

NYLT is a premier youth leadership training course for Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers. NYLT offers an exciting, action-based program designed to provide youth members of the BSA with leadership skills and experinece they can use in their home units and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
NYLT is a six-day leadership training course. It integrates the best of modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of the Scouting experience. Through activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and audio-visual support, NYLT participants are engaged in a unified approach to leadership that will give them the skills and confidence to lead well. Participants work and play together as they put into action the best Scouting has to offer.
NYLT Eligibility Requirements:
- Venturer, Sea Scout, or First Class or above Scout at least 13 years of age.
- Approved by Unit Leader to attend.
- Comfortable in camping and cooking outdoors.
- Commit to the entire 6 day course.
- Have a current BSA Health Form (Parts A, B, and C).
- Completion of home unit's Introduction to Leadership Skills Course (Ask your unit leader how you can participate in ILST for Troops, ILSC for Crews, or ILSS for Ships.)
