Frost Palooza Winter Camporee

in Hancock, IA

Get Ready for Frost Palooza!
Grab your winter gear and your sense of adventure — Frost Palooza is coming! This isn’t your ordinary campout… it’s a weekend packed with frosty challenges, team spirit, and cold-weather fun that will put your Scouting skills to the test. Whether you’re a first-year Scout or a seasoned leader, you’ll discover new experiences, make lasting memories, and embrace the best parts of winter Scouting!

Wildlife & Tracking:
Learn the art of animal tracking — what better way to explore than following tracks through the mud or snow? Scouts will discover signs of wildlife such as elk and bison throughout the park.

Cold-Weather Skills:
Experience realistic scenarios to learn and demonstrate cold-weather first aid and survival techniques for severe winter conditions.

Knots, Lashings & Pioneering:
Practice essential Scout skills by building gadgets and camp tools using knots and lashings — perfect for improving your pioneering know-how!

‍ Winter Games & Adventures:
Compete in sleigh races, join a snowshoe trek, face off in snow tug-of-war, and take part in a night hike around the park.

Merit Badge Opportunities:
Earn partial requirements for several merit badges! If there’s snow, Scouts can complete the snowshoeing requirement for the Snow Sports Merit Badge and fulfill requirement 9 for the Camping Merit Badge.

Evening Fun:
After the night hike, warm up in the lodge with a movie or enjoy board games with your fellow Scouts.

So, bundle up, bring your patrol spirit, and join us for a weekend of frozen fun, skill-building, and Scouting camaraderie at Frost Palooza!
