UNMC Medical Lab Scientist Exploring Program

A patient walks into the ER with a single, little problem - a cough that hasn't let her sleep for days. To solve this case, we'll need to head to the laboratory, put on our lab coats and gloves, and take on the role of Medical Laboratory Scientists! Comb through the patient's history for clues, examine bacteria as a Microbiologist, sort white blood cells as a Hematologist, perform chemical testing as a Clinical Chemist, type blood as a Blood Banker, and correlate all the data to diagnose and treat our ailing patient!

***This event is held in a biohazardous laboratory with real biohazardous materials. Participation will require adherence to dress code (legs covered, close-toed shoes, and long hair pulled back). Laboratory protective equipment (gloves and lab coat) will be provided.
