Event Details

"Surviving the Ice Age" Winter Camporee in Hancock, IA

Hosted by Ohwahnasee District

Join us at Botna Bend Park for the “SURVIVING THE ICE AGE” Winter Camporee! Test your patrols’ speed and efficiency on the Klondike sled and snowshoe relays. Use your sled to geocache around the camp. Do you know how to cook in the winter? Scouts will use their skills to create their meals for the weekend. Troops will need to provide their own food. Many other activities will test your survival skills in the ICE AGE. A winter skills survival demonstration will help Scouts learn what it takes to stay safe in a cold, wintry climate.

Troops will need to make a Klondike sled prior to the event (or bring one they have previously made) and make two pairs of snowshoes prior to the start of camp. Instructions will be provided in the Leader's Guide. Board games and movies will allow for time to warm up in the evening.

Please read the Leader's Guide for more information on the challenges and details of what Scouts/Troops need to bring to the event. No walk-ins will be allowed so please pre-register to reserve your spot. Please register as a Troop to allow for a smoother check in process. Health forms parts A and B are required for all attendees at the event.
