STEM Winter Camporee at Swan Lake State Park

Winter Camporee in Carroll, IA

STEM

Welcome to the STEM winter camporee! At this camporee, we will cover parts of 4 different STEM merit badges: Nuclear Science, Electronics, Weather, and Robotics. Classes will be taught indoors. All camping will be outside in the area surrounding the East Shelter. No meals will be provided. 

Saturday program schedule (subject to change): 

8:30 am: Camp will be split in half and assigned to Nuclear Science and Electronics. Most of both classes should be completed. 

10:00 am: A meteorologist from the Des Moines NWS office will complete Weather MB req 9b

11:00 am: return to morning class 

noon: lunch in campsites (meals are not provided!)

1:00 pm: begin afternoon class (If you were assigned to Nuke Sci in the morning, you will take Electronics in the afternoon)

3:30 pm: camp-wide robotics session (scouts will likely not complete the entire merit badge)

7:30 pm: board games and movies in the East Shelter House

Aching to play in the snow instead? Swan Lake has great trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Leader supervision is required. 

When:  Check in starts at 6:00 on Friday, January 17. Plan to depart by 10:00 am on Sunday, January 19
