Heartland Family Services Exploring Program
Founded in Omaha in 1875, Heartland Family Service provides critical human services to individuals and families in Omaha and southwest Iowa including substance use treatment, housing support, therapeutic schools, crisis intervention, outpatient behavioral health, and survivors of exploitation and sexual violence.
Erica Irwin, the event's host, is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of post-licensure experience. She worked as a trauma therapist for children and youth for 9 years in a child advocacy center before transitioning to her current role as the Lead Therapist for HFS’s outpatient behavioral health program as well as the Graduate Intern Coordinator for Heartland Family Service. She works closely with undergraduate- and graduate-level students pursuing a career in human services and supervises new therapists for licensure. She will provide an overview of Heartland Family Service’s programs as well as a closer look at what an average day looks like for a therapist working in outpatient behavioral health.
