Event Details

Wagon Wheel District's
Webelos Woods, Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation, & Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills

Webelos Woods
This program focuses on the Webelos/Arrow of Light Scouts transition to Boy Scouts. We accomplish this by providing interesting interactive learning demonstrations and hands-on experience to Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts.  Activities include Camping, Cooking, Fire Building, Knife, Axe, and Saw, Knots and Pioneering.

Scouts BSA Troops from Wagon Wheel District Troops present, demonstrate and lead hands-on activities at the Tenderfoot and Second Class Scout skill levels. Your Scouts will experience an exciting preview of what is waiting for them after they bridge to Scouts BSA Troops. Webelos and their accompanying adults will have an opportunity to directly interact with several Wagon Wheel Troops in a camp out setting.  All Webelos Woods participants will be assigned to one of the several Scouts BSA Troops who will mentor and provide camping assistance while sharing the campsite Friday and Saturday night.

Webelos leaders and parents are strongly encouraged to attend a Webelos to Boy Scout Transition session, where among other things, the differences in the Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs are explained.  Scouting experts will be available to answer all your questions.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills
(IOLS) This one-and-a-half-day course is a combination of discussion and hands on experience designed to give adult leaders an introduction to many of the practical outdoor skills and safety policies they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors.  This course completes position training for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters who have taken the indoor portion.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation
This one-and-a-half-day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for Cub Leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities.  BALOO training consists of an ONLINE PRE-REQUISITE component in addition to an overnight hands-on practical.   BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help your unit carry out a successful camping experience.

The online prerequisite MUST be completed prior to attending the in-person class.  You can access the training by entering your username and password in "my.scouting.org".  Navigate to Cub Scout Training under the Training Center and click on the “Home” link once you are directed to Scouting U. Scroll down to the Expanded Learning Section.
