When:  Saturday, October 20, 9 AM - 4 PM

Come & Go Event!!  Stay as long as you want, but 30-45 minutes minimum can be expected to complete experience.

Where:  Durham Scout Center, Omaha

Cost$5.00 per participant (includes patch, contact log and certificate)

Boy Scouts - While you will not be able to complete the RADIO Merit Badge on this day, you will be able to fulfill the following requirements:

7.  Visit a radio installation (an amateur radio station, broadcast station, or public communications center, for example) approved in advance by your counselor.  Discuss the types of equipment you saw in use, how it was used, what types of licenses are required to operate and maintain the equipment, and the purpose of the station.

9.  Amateur Radio - a.  Tell why the FCC has an amateur radio service.  Describe some of the activities that amateur radio operators can do on the air, once they have earned an amateur radio license.  Use proper call signs, Q signals, and abbreviations, carry on a 10-minute real or simulated amateur radio contact using voice, Morse code, or digital mode.  (Licensed amateur radio operators may substitute five QSL calls as evidence of contact with 5 amateur radio operators.  Properly log the real or simulated ham radio contact, and record the signal report.)
