Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

Get prepared to take your Cub Scout Pack outdoors! BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is a one-and-a-half-day, hands-on training designed to give Cub Scout leaders the skills and confidence needed to plan and lead safe, fun, and successful outdoor experiences. Packs are required to have at least one BALOO-trained adult leader present during Pack overnight camping experiences that are not District- or Council-sponsored events. Having multiple BALOO-trained leaders gives your Pack greater flexibility and helps build a stronger outdoor program. During this hands-on weekend, participants will learn about: Cub Scout camping policies and procedures, planning safe and age-appropriate outdoor activities, campsite setup and camping equipment, outdoor cooking, fire safety, basic outdoor skills, health, safety, and sanitation, and planning successful pack camping experiences. An online prerequisite course and an overnight, in-person practical training is required to complete BALOO training. The online BALOO prerequisite must be completed before arriving at the in person training. Come spend the weekend learning new skills, connecting with other Cub Scout Leaders, and gaining the confidence to help provide memorable outdoor adventures for your Scouts and families!

Partcipants are required to bring their own personal camping equipment. If you need assistance obtaining camping gear, please contact one of the event organizers before the training.
