Honoring Citizenship • Patriotism • Service Pack your tents, your patrol spirit, and your American pride! Join Scouts from across the area as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America with a weekend of fun, challenge, ceremony, and red-white-and-blue Scout spirit! This camporee will highlight the best of America and Citizenship, teamwork, outdoor skills, and the timeless values of Scouting that help shape great leaders and great Americans

When:  Friday, April 10, 5 PM - Sunday, April 12, 10 AM

Where:  Buena Vista County Park, 377 440th Street, Peterson, IA 51047

Cost:  

  • Scouts BSA- $20
  • AOL Scouts- $20
  • Adults - $5 
  • Includes: Facility Rental, Event Patch, Program Materials, Crackerbarrel BOTH Nights

**Troops will plan and prepare meals in their own campsites.

 

Program Highlights

Celebrate America through challenges, teamwork, history, and FUN!

  • Frontier Skills: Lashings & Knots - Channel the spirit of American pioneers and early explorers while building small models and tools, and practicing essential Scoutcraft.
  • Medical Emergency/Casualty Simulation - Scouts will respond to a simulated emergency, practicing first aid, teamwork, and critical decision-making skills.
  • American Ingenuity Demonstrations
    • Dutch Oven Cooking — frontier-style flavor and creativity
    • Fire Starting — honoring traditional outdoor skills and survival knowledge
  • Order of the Arrow Callout & Ceremony - Experience the honor, tradition, and symbolism of Scouting’s National Honor Society in a meaningful Saturday evening ceremony.
  • “Liberty” Campfire Program - Songs and skits • cheers • Scout spirit • Celebrate heritage, unity, leadership, and freedom to be Scouts!
  • Flag Retirement Ceremony - Scouts will respectfully retire worn U.S. flags while learning proper flag etiquette and honoring our nation.
  • Cracker Barrel - Good food, fellowship, and friendship under the stars Friday AND Saturday night.
