Zombie Camporee 2021 Safety Updates!
We are excited to have you all with us this spring and we have been working hard to ensure it will be both a fun and safe experience. Here are the safety updates we will be following at the OEC Zombie Camporee this year.
1. Check-in Procedures: Upon arrival please stay in your vehicle until temperature check is complete. Please understand that if anyone youth or adult has a temperature at car check in, they cannot participate that day. A second check will be conducted to eliminate false positives.
2. COVID-19: Please use the common sense that we all have been practicing during the pandemic . Follow the DHMs and CDC guidance. IF you are sick please stay home and get better we want to see you again for many years to come. If you get sick at camp please report it to your SPL/SM. A COVID area is established for isolation if needed in the lower level of the OEC.
3. Medical Pre-Screening and: The Parts A and B of the form need to be filled out with information that is current one month from your report date to camp.
4. Enhanced Cleaning throughout Camp: What used to be considered clean enough for camp will no longer be the standard, a rigorous schedule and protocol for cleaning and sanitizing of facilities and equipment is being implemented.
5. Face Covering Policy: Face covering is required for staff, youth and adult participants contingent of proximity and situation. Please plan to have your own mask at camp. Limited supply of masks will be on hand for purchase as needed.
6. Wrist bands: Wrist bands will be given to the everyone at check in. As a safety precaution and if a Scout has parental consent for shooting sports they will be given a second wrist band of a different color to identify they can shoot.
7. Rotations: Cohort Circle Model to be used…Think of your Circle as a closed group or Patrol they move together, wash hands together, play together they become a family unit for the purposes of social distancing and containment while at the Camporee. a. Spray/Pump bottles with Hand Sanitizer to be used between main activities. b. The Scout Shop is open from 9-noon on Saturday. Please use free time to visit the shop.
8. Weather: this weekend looks great for sleeping at night but can get cold. Please ensure your Scouts are properly outfitted for the weekend. There is also a 50% chance of rain on Friday night and 30% on Saturday. Rain gear is a must. The afternoons look to be fairly warm.
9. Visitor Policy: No un-registered visitors will be allowed at Camporee.
10. Security: The gate will be closed during program and after camp fire on Saturday.
11. Bridges: The north bridge and trails are closed. Please use the south bridge by the Harvey hunter lodge.
12. Low water crossing: We will be keeping and eye on the water levels at the low water crossing daily. Please do not attempt to cross on foot if moving water is visible.
13. HAVE FUN! This one is sure to be Zombarific!
The Salt Valley District Zombie Apocalypse Camporee will be held the weekend of April 16-18 2021, at the Outdoor Education Center located at 600 South 120th Street, Walton, NE. 68486. The Camporee will be open to all Scouts BSA Troops, Venture Crews and Sea Scouts. Per BSA Guide to Safe Scouting, Webelos May attend Saturday's Events.
The Camporee is a Zombie Apocalypse Survival Training event and will feature emergency preparedness and survival skills training and activities. the Survival Staff have developed an exciting and challenging series of scenarios for all participants, intended to increase every Scout's skill and preparedness for the imminent Zombie invasion...or other emergency. Along with skill, cool heads and teamwork are always valuable when facing tough situations. Optional Shotgun, Archery and Climbing wall are part of this amazing weekend's festivities.
