Pistol Instructor Training
DATES: 21 September 2:00PM to 6:00pm (class prerequisites) and 22 September 9:00AM to 6:00PM. (Instructor class).
LOCATION: American Legion Post 237, 301 W. Eldora Ave., and the Weeping Water Gun Club, 3250 Scenic Drive, Weeping Water, NE
SHORT DESCRIPTION: This 16-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course.
PRE-REQUISITE: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates must have successfully completed the NRA Basic Pistol Marksmanship Course and the NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) Course, (within the past two years). They must also complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
DESCRIPTION: During the course instructors will complete discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet materials. Candidates will complete the course prerequisite pistol handling and marksmanship portions on Saturday afternoon.
Students must present proof of completion of the BIT Course. Students will furnish their own center fire pistol and ammunition (min. 100 rounds). Chamber flags are highly encouraged. Students will also furnish their own current NRA basic pistol manual. For students who have not completed BIT, a class may be able to be arranged but cannot be guaranteed.
