The Fundamentals of Training and Trainers EDGE

Event Details

Are you an adult or youth in scouting that trains other adults or youth? Den Leaders are training the Cub Scouts in their Den each time you have a Den Meeting. Senior Patrol Leaders are at a minimum training an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader but most likely doing a lot more.

Whether or not you hold a formal position in your unit, if you are involved in Scouting America, then most likely at some point you are going to be training someone else. This is why all adults and youth over the age of 14 are encouraged to complete Scouting America’s Fundamentals of Training and The Trainer’s EDGE courses.

Fundamentals of Training is the first part of the three-part Train the Trainer curriculum in Scouting and is intended for both youth and adult trainers. This session is designed to introduce trainers in Scouting to teaching techniques and skills to help them, regardless of their experience, present effective training.

The Trainer’s EDGE is the second part of the Train the Trainer curriculum. The purpose of the Trainer’s EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course is intended to “train the trainer” on behaviors and resources while offering hands‐on experience in methods and media.

If you want to be a better teacher, trainer and Scouter join us for the combined Fundamentals of Training and The Trainer’s EDGE courses. We will take breaks during the course including a break for lunch so bring a lunch!
