Outdoor Adventures
Outdoor Adventures
Building on our excellent Outdoor Preparedness (should be taken as prerequisite), Outdoor Adventures takes your learning to the next level by enabling you to understand some basic aspects of adventure planning, advanced camping, and next-level programming. Taught by highly experienced scouters, our goal is to explain and demonstrate:
- Planning for hiking, including backpacks, trail food, clothing, footwear, weather preparations and gender considerations
- Meals on the trail, with various cooking stoves and methods (and first dinner)
- Various camping shelters (small tents, hammocks, dining fly), deploying them, and hints/tips
- Dutch Oven Meals (and second dinner & dessert)
- How to plan high adventure for your unit (high adventure bases, canoe adventures)
- Ongoing Service in Scouts (Wisdom and Practice)
- Scouts Worship Service
This course will take place outside, and will start after the end of Outdoor Preparedness - no additional equipment and forms necessary. Plan on bringing many questions, and gather knowledge from our scouters.
