Wood Badge is an advanced training program that involves leaders in situations likely to be found in a typical Scout unit.  The training is applied in a variety of activities as well as in-depth exploration of the role of the adult in developing youth through the Scout Program.

But Wood Badge is more than just mechanical course work. Wood Badge is the embodiment of Scouting spirit. Like many intense training experiences, it has always relied on a busy schedule forcing the participants to work together, to organize and to develop an enthusiasm and team spirit to accomplish the tasks and challenges placed before them.

A major part of this training program is a plan to apply what participants have learned in the practical course, also know as the “ticket”.  Participants will create and carry out a plan of action.  When that plan of action is complete and approved by a “ticket counselor”, the participant is recognized as completing the course.

Carried out in context of Scouting ideals and service to young people, the course brings out a deep dedication and spirit of brotherhood and fellowship in most participants.

Wood Badge for the 21st Century is designed to give Scouters the tools they need to provide the highest quality Scouting experience for the youth in their units.  It is based on contemporary leadership and team building concepts, and is designed for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturing leaders, as well as District and Council leaders.

This year’s course is offered over two 3-day sessions at the Outdoor Education Center (600 South 120th Street, Lincoln):

March 30-April 1
April 21-23

Please consider this training, it would be great for your Scouting unit, and for you personally
