Camp Melita Island
Summer Camp 2026

In the middle of the pristine waters of Flathead Lake lies an island gem called Melita.

Melita Island is wholly owned by Scouting America, Montana Council, and is a little piece of paradise reserved just for Scouts to have the adventure of a lifetime. Programs at Melita Island are heavily water-based and are ideal for seasoned Scouts that are looking for something a little different than the traditional summer camp. We also have land-based activities for those who are afraid to get wet. 
 

Units must pay a $250 NON-REFUNDABLE Deposit at the time of booking
plus $25 per participant (NON-REFUNDABLE) due by Sept. 15, 2025

 Because of limited spots on Melita Island, priority will be given to youth attendees.
Every unit will be permitted 1 adult per every 4 youth registered (All units are allowed at least 3 adults). 
There will be a total of 200 spots available per week.

Waitlist registrations will be considered beginning September 15.

2026 Dates:

• Session 1: July 5th - July 11th, 2026
• Session 2: July 12th - July 18th, 2026
• Session 3: July 19th - July 25th, 2026
• Session 4: July 26th - Aug 1st, 2026
• Session 5: Aug 2nd - Aug 8th, 2026

2026 Fees:            
Youth:           $550 (Fee will increase to $575 if not paid in full by 05/15/2026)
Adults:          $300
Deposit:         $250 deposit at the time of booking plus $25 per participant due by Sept. 15 (both NON-REFUNDABLE). 

• Reservations after Sept. 15 require $250 deposit plus $25 per participant due at booking (both NON-REFUNDABLE).
• Reservations that do not have $25 per participant (and $250 deposit) paid by Sept. 15 will forfeit any unpaid participant slots and those spaces will be available for other units.
• Participant spots will be removed if the $100 per participant fee is not paid by March 1st

In 2025, we offered 52 different program sessions at Melita Island, including 42 different Merit Badges. 

Courses at Melita Island include:

• Water Sports
• Kayaking, Canoeing, & Stand Up Paddleboarding
• Swimming
• Snorkeling
• Fishing 
• Archery
• Nature, Soil & Water Conservation, and Environmental Science
• STEM programs
• First Aid & Emergency Preparedness
• Photography, Wood Carving, & Animation
• Plus many, many more

New for 2025:

• Aquatics Supervision: Paddle Craft Safety
• Insect Study
• Rank Advancement Blocks (specific to different ranks)

Advanced Camper Experience (ACE) - Additional Fee (TBD)
Experienced campers will have an opportunity to participate in ACE program. This program exists to give older Scouts an opportunity to use their skills in a high-adventure setting, such as whitewater rafting, hiking, water skiing, sailing, and more. Each day is a new adventure drawing on past learned skills and creating memories for the future.
NOTE: This program is physical demanding. Scouts should ensure that they can complete physical activities such as a 3 mile hike, ropes course, etc. before signing up for this program. This program is for Scouts that are 14+.

Adult Programs

Camp can also be a fun, relaxing, and rewarding experience for adults. At Melita Island, we take this to a new dimension. Some learning experiences we've offered in prior years include: Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills, Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense, and Swimming and Water Rescue. We have also provided several stress reducing events that you can participate in, which have included: Evening Socials, Boat Rides, and Pie Making Classes.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of camp scholarships are available for Montana Council Scouts based on financial need. Scholarship information will be posted here in the fall of 2025. 

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

Any unit or individual Scout canceling prior to June 1st may be able to receive a refund of fees less the $250 Non-Refundable Deposit and $25 per participant fee for each Scout and/or adult cancellation.

After June 1st, 2026, no refunds will be issued until after the end of the camping season.  Refunds will be determined by the Council Camping Department.  Valid refund reasons include death, illness, or military orders such as TDA or PCS. Refund amounts are determined based on refundable monies, which excludes food and supplies purchased, as well as other incurred costs.

All fees must be paid on time in order to hold your campsite. The unit may lose its place if fees are not on time.
