2026 CANOE & BBQ
Order of the Arrow Wah-Sha-She Lodge, Sipo Aney Chapter, invites Troops to join in our annual Canoe & BBQ along the beautiful Current River.
ONE registration per UNIT is requested.
Join us on an 8-mile canoe float from Cedar Grove to Akers Ferry followed by a BBQ lunch on August 15, 2026.
Saturday morning at 9 a.m., busses will transport Scouts & Scouters to the river. Please be at the Jadwin Canoe Store by 8:30 a.m. for required briefings and to board busses. Transportation will be provided back to the Jadwin Canoe Store at the conclusion of the float where lunch will be served.
Lunch will be hamburgers, hotdogs, and sides. Alpha-gal and gluten-free options will be available, but please let us know the approximate number of people needing meal accommodations with your registration.
ARRIVAL
Upon arrival, please check-in with our OA Team and get your campsite location. Look for the check-in station located just behind the Jadwin Canoe Store.
- Scouting units who are camping Friday night are asked to arrive between 5 - 8 p.m. If you plan to arrive later than 8 p.m., please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements.
- Scouting units arriving Saturday morning are asked to arrive not later than 8:30 a.m. to check in with our OA Team.
**Units will be asked to provide current Scout forms A & B (Informed Consent, Release Agreement, and Authorization AND General Information/Health History) for each participant. Forms can be located at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_AB.pdf.
**Units will be asked to provide current Swim Classification Records (dated on or after August 16, 2025) for each participant at check-in. Be sure to include with your records a copy of the test administrator's certification. Those not classified as a "Swimmer" (Blue) are limited to canoe participation with an adult (over 21 years of age) who is classified as a "Swimmer". Youth must be classified as a "Swimmer" to operate a Kayak. Swim test cannot be completed at the event, test must be completed before arriving. Be sure there is at least one adult Swimmer for every Non-Swimmer participant with your unit!
**Units should come perpared with a 1:10 ratio (adult to youth) with at least one adult who has compelted the Safety Afloat training within the past two years. It is recommended that all adult leaders complete Safety Afloat as well as Hazards Weather Training and Safe Swim Defense. Trainings can be found at https://my.scouting.org.
CAMPING
If your unit would like to camp, we have campsites reserved. Overnight camping on Friday evening is included in the registration. Troops are welcome to camp Saturday for an additional $2 per person.
LOCATION
Jadwin Canoe Store is located at 8754 State Hwy K, Jadwin, MO 65501, approximately 13 miles south of Salem at the intersection of K and ZZ.
COSTS
- Canoe -- $45 per person which includes canoe rental & gear, overnight camping on Friday evening, transportation to and from the river, Saturday's BBQ lunch, and a collectors patch.
- Kayak -- $55 per person which includes canoe rental & gear, overnight camping on Friday evening, transportation to and from the river, Saturday's BBQ lunch, and a collectors patch. NOTE: Kayak reservations are on a first come first serve based on paid reservations due to limited availability.
- Additional Saturday Night Camping is available for an additional $2 per person.
