Scouting America’s Pinewood Derby Car Building Rules – $30 per car, kits to be picked up from the Ozark Trails Council Service Center

TRADITIONAL PINEWOOD DERBY RULES
All cars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race:

1. Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.
2. Length shall not exceed 7 inches.
3. Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.
4. Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit.
5. Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
6. No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.
7. The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.
8. The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
9. No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car.

Outlaw Race: $50 per car registration, kits to be picked up from the Ozark Trails Council Service Center

OUTLAW PINEWOOD DERBY RULES
All cars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race:

1. The Official Scouting America Pinewood Derby Kit must be used
2. All vehicles must fit in the length, width, & height box (7” L x 2¾” W x 4” H)
3. All vehicles must clear the center guide strip of the track (⅜” H x 1¾” W)
4. Vehicles must weigh 10oz. or less
5. All decorations/attachments must be securely affixed
6. Transferring/Moving Weights dry weights ARE permitted.  NO liquid weights are allowed
7. “Pre-cut” kit vehicles will be allowed
8. The axles must be the axels in the kit, but can be machined/polished
9. The wheels wheels must be the wheels in the kit can be sanded, machined, or changed as long as vehicle has the correct clearances
10. No lubricating oil allowed.  Only graphite powder
11. The vehicle must be freewheeling with No type of Motors, engines, rocket engines, or other propulsion may be used.
