NUCLEAR SCIENCE MERIT BADGE

• LOCATION: Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant- 1660 Wakonade Drive West, Welch, MN 55089
• TIME: 11am-4pm

• COST: $25/Scout
• CAPACITY- 15 Scouts

Arrival/ Check in time: 10:45 Am.  Class will start promptly at 11am. The class is 5 hours long. 

Pre-Requisites prior to attending: It is best for the Scouts to prepare with some research up front. This will enable us to move into the more interesting and exciting things during the classroom training. 

• Pre-req- #1d - this would be normally occurring radioactive materials
• Pre-req- #2a - We will still talk about the definitions in class, but knowing material ahead will give Scouts chance to better participate and share their knowledge. 
• Pre-Req- #3b - List particle accelerators and what they research so can be discussed in class.
• Pre-req - #7 - knowing applications prior so they can discuss in class.
• Pre-Req- #8 - what are the career oportunities?

Please note the following:

• Scouts need to wear their Class A uniform
• Please bring a bag lunch & any snacks,  since it is a 5 hour class.
• Please bring a blue card to get signed and to show completion. Scouts can then take Blue Card to their Scoutmaster for Badge recognition.
