Cub & Webelos Summer Resident Camp 2018

Event Details

Parker Scout Resident Camp!

 

Adult supervision is required for all youth attendees.  Leadership should be at least one adult per four youth with a minimum of two leaders.  2 deep does not apply to parent and child registrations.

Join us for a weekend of Adventure and Fun! 

Advancement based programs, Tigers, Wolf, Bear, and 2 for Webelos will earn elective loops towards rank!

We are open all six weekends of camp for all age groups!  Cub Scouts and Webelos will be sharing Parker Scout Camp, with four “campsites” for age specific advancement and the Miller Castle for a multi-aged programs. 

You will also be able to enjoy swimming, archery and BB guns.  Meals are provided at the dining hall.

Weekends include June 8-10, 15-22,  22-24, and 29-July 1, July 13-15, and 20-22.

All themes are limited each session to 32 Cub Scouts and parents or leaders.

Medieval Times/Hawg-warts Adventure

A castle based theme experience for all new Scouts

​New this year!  Tiger and Bobcat Advancements and a magical castle adventure in Medieval Times! We are conjuring up new ideas every day to make the castle program a Hogwarts-style adventure for new Scouts and incoming Tigers!  Participants will be earning Good Knights and Curiosity, Intrigue and Magical Mysteries Adventure Loops, along with elements of Floats and Boats during swim time.

Adventure in the Woods

Finding your Way for Scouts who are going into 2nd Grade

Wolves will earn this Elective Adventure Loop by completing these requirements with their leaders:

We’ll use computer maps to find your hometown; show us where you live! Draw a map of your neighborhood and tells us about your town. Where is your school, where do your friends live?

What kinds of snacks do you like to eat, where does it come from? Show us on the globe or map.

Discuss different kinds of maps and how they help us find our way! Learn how to use the tools on a map and plan a trip.

We’ll go on a scavenger hunt using a compass, who knows what treasures we may find! 

Take a hike! Using a map and compass, Holly Carlson will take you on an adventure to explore the woods at Parker Scout Camp. What kinds of nature will we see along the way?

Fish Camp!  A Bear Goes Fishing (and Critter Care!) for Scouts

who are going into 3rd Grade

Bears will earn this Elective Adventure Loop by completing the requirements with their leaders:

Identify different types of local fish and their habits and habitats, and which ones are good to eat!

Discuss and demonstrate the importance of Fishing Regulations through games and projects, because rules aren’t always fun, but they are important.

Learn about different fishing equipment and make a simple fishing pole.

Practice casting at a target, how far can you cast a line? Challenge your friends to outcast you!

Let’s go fishing! On the pontoon and off the dock, using the things you have learned about fish and fishing gear. All fishing will be catch and release, but stories and pictures will be shared at the campfire on Saturday night!

 

Lost in the Woods? What do you do? 

Castaway for Scouts entering grades 4 or 5

with Outdoorsman!

Start fires without matches, cook some fun items without pots and pans, or create a shelter that could protect you overnight if you were lost.  Decide which items you will need to carry with you on an adventure which are important for survival.

Invent a game that everyone can play at camp, and teach it to others. Create a plan for safety in the woods, practice purifying water, and learn emergency signals and practice rescue techniques!

Practice leading the group in problem solving activities, and better understand the Scout Oath and Law.

Other Castaway activities may include map and compass, GPS, preparing a skit for the Saturday campfire to show what you have learned!

This adventure will be led by Sir Phil. Together you mastered the castle, but every knight longs for adventure, and it's his turn to help you conquer the wilderness!

Adventures in Science and Aquanaut for Scouts who are

going into 4th or 5th grade.

This group will sleep in tents and hold theme sessions in the castle's lower level science lab. Join Beth for experiments and fun as we discover the answers to some of the world's mysteries. Explore the solar system, and the history of the earth, and challenges that bring science into the here and now.  

This group will the requirements for the Adventures in Science Loop,  Beth promises you will make messes, blow things up and have a hands-on eggs-perimental eggs-perience!
