Troop Open House for Arrow of Light Scouts

Event Details

No Registration Needed

Mankato Area Arrow of Light Scout Open House
Monday, October 17, 2022
Time and Location TBD

A Cub Scout's 5th grade year is all about change.  Arrow of Light Scouts begin to transition from the Cub Scout program into the Scouts BSA program.  And with this transition comes a wide variety of questions.  Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA are very different, and it's important for the Arrow of Light Scouts and parents to explore your options.  Arrow of Light Scouts are not required to join a specific troop.  In the Mankato Area, one Pack does not "feed" any one troop.  The Arrow of Light Scouts are welcome to shop around.

What troop to do you see yourself in?  We are fortunate in Mankato to have boy Troops 4, 24, 29, 76 and 95.  For girls we have Troops 8 and 35.  All Scout BSA troops are different.  It's important as an Arrow of Light Scout you visit various troops and find the one that is right for you.

But who has time to visit multiple troops?  We're going to make it easy for you.  On Monday, October 17, 2022, the Mankato area troops will be joining together to offer "Rush Night".  Troops will host different tables displayed with items that represent what their troop is all about.  You'll see photos from high adventure trips, videos of great troop events, be given a troop calendar and maybe interact with a Scout BSA skill challenge or two.

Arrow of Lights Scouts should "Be Prepared" with their list of questions.  Some questions could include

  • Does your troop do High Adventure trips and how often?
  • How do I earn my Eagle in your troop?
  • How often do you camp?
  • What level of participation from my parents does this troop ask?
  • How are merit badges earned in your troop?
  • How many fund raisers does this troop do each year and what are they?
  • Is your troop Scout lead or Adult lead?

The list of questions is endless, so spend some time thinking about your list.

Registration is not needed for this event, just put on your uniform and stop in!  You'll be glad you did!
