Please consider nominating a Scouter you know for the great things they have done in the past year in Scouting. You may nominate more than one person and you may nominate someone in more than one category. Only one person will be selected from each category. Please submit your nominations no later than 11:59 pm on February 27. Then a committee will review nominations and an announcement made in mid-March on whom will be recognized.

The Silver Beaver and District Award of merit require an external form to be completed.

Silver Beaver: The Silver Beaver Award was introduced in 1931 and is a council-level distinguished service award of Scouting America. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given at the council level. 

District Award of Merit: The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, outside Scouting, or both. Download the nomination form and get additional details here.

Above and Beyond:  This individual or group of folks have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Sometimes wearing multiple hats and pitching in wherever possible often times doing things without asking.

Gofer of the Year:  That person who may or may not be a leader but is someone who always does things when asked. They might pickup things from the Scout office and bring them back to the unit or transport stuff to the office. This person my do the grocery shopping for an event or campout. This person might be at a meeting and one minute they are handing out pinewood derby cars and the next minute they are drying out tents. Whatever is asked of them they do. 

Popcorn Kernel of the Year:  This individual has served as popcorn kernel for their unit and adds some zip and zing to the popcorn sale to encourage youth to strive to be the best when it comes to the popcorn sale. They help to inspire and motive both Scouts and parents.

Young Adult of the Year: This individual is at least 18 years of age and continues to give back to the Scouting or Exploring program. Likely this individual is a registered adult, but not required to be. This person serves as a role model and continues to give back to the program.

Youth of the Year:  A Scouting or Exploring youth who makes their program amazing, fun, and and a great place to be. This youth helps give leadership to the program and is model for others to look up to in their unit.

Exploring Advisor/Committee Chair/Member of the Year: This award will go to an Explorer Post Advisor, Committee Chair, or Committee Member that goes above and beyond to ensure a quality Exploring program in their post.  This could include working with parents and committee to ensure an engaging program, great support for post's adult and youth leaders, or simply adding that “something special” at exploring meetings that make exploring an amazing place to be.

Cubmaster of the Year:  This award will go to a Cubmaster that goes above and beyond to ensure a quality Cub Scouting program in their pack.  This could include working with parents and committee to ensure a fun filled annual program plan, great support for pack’s den leaders, or simply adding that “something special” at pack meetings that make a good program great.

Scoutmaster of the Year:  This award will go a Scoutmaster that goes above and beyond to ensure a quality Scouts BSA program in their troop.  This could include working with parents and committee to ensure a fun filled annual program plan, great support for assistant Scoutmaster’s and/or Patrol Leader’s Council, or simply adding that “something special” at troop meetings/campouts that make a good program great.

Committee Chair/Committee Member of the Year:  This award will go to the unit committee chair or committee member that gives outstanding service to their unit.  Much of their work may be unseen by most unit members, but without them the unit program would not be as strong as it is.  The work quietly behind the scenes to ensure the unit leadership have the tools and resources they need to be successful.

Rookie of the Year:  This is a person new to Scouting or Exploring, just joining the volunteer ranks in 2025.  They not only joined your unit but hit the ground running with energy and enthusiasm.  Their contribution to your unit has been infectious and encouraged others to get involved as well.

Volunteer of the Year:  This individual has made a tremendous contribution to Scouting in 2025.  Their service to Scouting or Exploring has had a greater than usual impact on a Scout(s)/Explorer(s) life and went above and beyond to ensure a fun, safe, and rewarding Scouting or Exploring program for your unit, the district, the council, or Scouting or Exploring as a whole.
