The unknown happens in life. It is a scout’s duty to “Be Prepared” for the unexpected unknowns and the expected unknowns. If you have played survival video games, you have experienced the value of being prepared in the game for unknown challenges.
Join us at Norseland Scout Camp where you can prepare for the unknown challenges of survival games in real life. Even better, do so with a non-scout gaming friend who you can bring with you at no extra cost.
Come learn and practice your primitive survival skills for a day. Learn how to gather and start a fire using primitive methods. Learn how to construct primitive survival shelters using those items you can expect to have with you and expect to find in the woods. Learn how to set up a camp and cooking fire to learn how to prepare the wild game you gather and to keep you warm at night if you are required to survive.
You will also hone your hunting skills using the type of tools for hunting small game that you need to master to feed yourself. This includes the use of bows, slingshots, BB guns, throwing knives and throwing axes. Ranges for each will be set up with instructors available to help you increase your skills.
This day event will challenge you and your friends to do in real life what you have done virtually on a screen. Come out and see if you can “Be Prepared” for the unknown when your survival is at stake.
A TRADING POST WILL BE AVAILABLE DURING THIS EVENT WITH KNIVES, CAMP CLOTHES AND OTHER SCOUT GOODIES, INCLUDING A BRANDING STATION.
Cost for this event is $25 per Youth Scout and $10 for Adults. Lunch is provided. Each Scout is asked to bring a friend. Friends attend free (1 free youth for each paid youth per unit).
Any Troop wishing to camp one or both of the nights before or after the event are free to sign up, as they would for any troop weekend campout, through the Council’s webpage for the campsite of their choice.
Each person on property must have completed health form including guests.
