Camping with Special Needs Cubs and Talking to Parents - Rich Greiner, Jr.
May 26, 2026
Camping with Cub Scouts who have special needs or disabilities requires thoughtful planning, clear communication, and a flexible leadership approach that supports every child’s success. This course is designed to equip Cub Scout leaders with practical strategies for creating inclusive, safe, and enjoyable camping experiences for all youth. Participants will gain insight into understanding a range of needs, adapting activities without lowering expectations, and building strong, trust-based partnerships with parents and caregivers. We will explore how to have respectful, productive conversations with families, set clear expectations, and collaborate with fellow leaders and volunteers to ensure consistency and support. By the end of the session, leaders will feel more confident in their ability to anticipate challenges, respond effectively in the moment, and create a positive environment where every Cub Scout can participate, grow, and thrive in the outdoors.
This class is free to attend but you must register to receive sign in details.
