Spring Camp-o-ree Scouts BSA

Event Details

When Nature Calls Spring Camp-o-ree
Friday, May 17 - Sunday, May 19, 2024
5pm Friday - 9am Sunday
Norseland Scout Camp
$30 per Scout and $15 per Adult

This spring, come to camp-o-ree and view Camp Norseland through an environmental lens.  Scouts will participate in three separate learning sections about environmental issues including: invasive species, water quality, and erosion.  Each section will have hands on learning and service project work including trail maintenance, water quality measurements and invasive species mitigation.  Sections will be led by environmental professionals from local government agencies who work daily to conserve and restore our Minnesota environment.

While the Soil and Water Conservation merit badge is not being offered as a complete badge, many of its difficult-to-fulfill requirements will be met by scouts participating in the camp-o-ree.  Units may wish to begin the merit badge on their own and use the camp-o-ree to supplement the needed field work.  It is also expected that each Scout will earn at least 3 hours of conservation service hours.  Please be sure your unit logs these into the Year of Service tracker.

Units should plan to arrive at Norseland any time after 5pm on Friday.  Food on Friday is the troops responsibility.  Following Saturday morning breakfast (provided by your troop) Scouts will spend the day with hands-on learning about environmental issues.  Camp wide lunch on Saturday is provided, Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast are provided by the Troop.

Saturday evening the OA call-out will take place.  With this being the first official Scout BSA activity for the new Cross-Over Scouts, units should use the call-out as a learning tool regarding what the Order of the Arrow is all about, how it works, etc.

Units will be on their way home by 9am on Sunday.

Each person on property will need to complete a Health Form parts A/B.

Any adult staying overnight (regardless of one night or two; staff or with a unit) must be a BSA registered member.  Applications for non-registered adults must be submitted by May 10, 2024, to obtain proper approval by the camp-o-ree date.  Adults wishing to spend the day only, do not need to be BSA registered however they cannot act as leadership for the Troop.

Registration is open until Sunday, May 12, 2024.
