Providing the next step in the training continuum for those in Scouts BSA is a serious responsibility.

The NYLT experiences in Northern Star Council is known as Grey Wolf and implements the Scouting National Council's NYLT syllabus.  This week-long leadership training conference will provide your Scouts the opportunity to learn and practice leadership skills including developing a vision, understanding team development, conflict resolution and much more.  The training conference models a month in the life of a Scouting unit.  Grey Wolf NYLT is delivered in a camp environment and is based on the principles of Scouting.  Training focuses on four areas to benefit Scouts and their units.

Leadership - providing a toolbox of ideas and tachniques for effective leadership

Scoutcraft - learning new techniques to share with unit members

Program - increasing ability to contribute to the planning or patrol and unit activities

Problem Solving and Decision Making - dealing with personal and unit situations

To be eligible for Grey Wolf NYLT, a Scout must be 13-17 years of age and have earned First Class.  Scouts who are in programs and over age 18 should consider attending Wood Badge leadership training.

To participate in this course Scouts need to be nominated by their unit leader.  Below is a link for the nomination worksheet that should be reviewed before submitting the actual nomination.

Training sessions will be held at Fred C Andersen Scout Camp near Stillwater, MN.  Dates are:

Session 1:  June 16-22, 2024
Session 2:  June 23 - 29, 2024
Session 3:  June 30 - July 6, 2024
Session 4:  July 7 - 13

Nomination deadline is Thursday, February 29, 2024
