Twin Valley Council is excited to offer the Introduction to Leadership Training at 2 locations. Training is identical at each location so please choose the date and location that works best for your schedule. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Cedar Point Scout Camp or Saturday, May 10, 2025, Norseland Scout Camp. The session will run from 9am-3pm.
Attendees should be an SPL, ASPL, Patrol Leader or Assistant Patrol Leader or hold another elected or appointed leadership position in their unit. Class size is limited to 12 Scouts per session. Please use waitlist as needed.
This is not an overnight training, and Scouts need to bring a cold lunch (hot water will be available). Attending scouts should arrive prepared to be in the outdoors all day (dressed for the weather and with a water bottle, etc.). They should be wearing their scout field uniform.
The purpose of the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) course is to teach Scouts with leadership positions about their new roles and the organizational and leadership skills needed to most effectively reach success in that role. Completion of ILST is a prerequisite for Scouts to participate in the more advanced leadership courses National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE). This course is for every Scout in a troop who holds a leadership position, including all elected positions and any appointed positions at the discretion of the senior patrol leader. In some smaller troops, this might mean that this course is for every Scout!
Successful completion of this course will allow each scout to add the “Trained” patch to their uniform. Trained patches will be available to take home the day of training.
The lead trainers for this course are senior members of the Order of the Arrow who have all undergone this training and held a multitude of unit and OA leadership positions. Adult supervision is provided.
Registration will be open until Monday, March 31, 2025 for Cedar Point.
For Norseland, registration is open until Monday, April 28, 2025.
