Michigan Crossroads Council Virtual Merit Badge Clinic 2020

Event Details

This Merit Badge program officially ends May 31st, 2020 and is being replaced by a summer camp program for Scouts BSA youth.  Please contact Dianna Marsh for info about the new program at:   Dianna.Marsh@scouting.org

This program is designed to supplement unit program.  We realize classes fill fast.  Please work with your Scouts BSA troop.  They should be offering more local virtual programs for your Scouts. In order to serve as many Scouts as possible, if you have already participated in this statewide program, please allow other Scouts the opportunity.

Note to parents:  Please check your spam/junk email along with your regular email for the counselor info.

Upcoming merit badges opening up for registration this week:

Michigan Crossroads Council Virtual Merit Badge Clinic

Scouts BSA can earn a merit badge via online conferencing.

Each of these will be done via conference with a certified Merit Badge Counselor and assistant.  Badge session lengths and meeting days will vary (see below) but will start on or before April 1 and end when the counselor and Scouts complete all of the work. Scouts should notify their Scoutmaster prior to signing up for a badge. Scouts will be required to attend the virtual sessions, participate and complete assignments and submit to the merit badge counselors for approval.  The Scout will NOT receive a paper blue card after merit badge instruction is completed. We will use the online blue card process used for our summer camps and other merit badge events. Using the registration confirmation email you will receive when registering, registrants can go into the Black Pug registration system and retrieve the completed signed merit badge record (blue card) or (partial) to submit to your unit leader. NOTE:  The completion date that will be printed on the online blue card for completed badges is the date the badge event is shown online. This may differ from the actual completion date by a week or two but cannot be adjusted in the registration system.  For partials, Scouts can continue to work with the counselor after this program is concluded.  Please allow us at least 21 days after completion of the badge to get the reports back from the counselors and update the info in our system.  If you lose the email confirmation you can contact jean.moreau@scouting.org to retrieve the blue card, withdraw from a class or for other questions related to registration.

Reminder:  Please save the confirmation email you receive when registering.  You will need this email to go into our system and retrieve your Scouts completed signed merit badge record or partial.

Scouts will notified via an email to the registration contact (person who signed them up for this event) with information on what time, and how to log in to the conference for their particular merit badge and prerequisites needed to be completed.  Counselors names, email address, and scheduled meeting days and times will be posted below next to each merit badge.  If a class is full, please do not contact the counselor and ask to be added.  They are not allowed to add Scouts.
