Are you looking to have a GREAT time DOING HANDS-ON stuff at scout training?

Do you want to learn how you can take your unit on High Adventure trips like climbing, white water rafting, backpacking, kayaking, SCUBA and so much more?

THIS is the course for you!

This resource course*  will teach you how to plan a safe and exciting high adventure trip, how to find the experts to help with your trip, all while having the time of your life.

This Powder Horn course may include the following topics: Backpacking, Bouldering, Climbing/Zipline, Conservation, Outdoor Cooking, Ecology, Emergency Preparedness, Expedition Planning, First Aid, Fishing, Hunting, Kayaking, Land Navigation, Leave No Trace, Outdoor Living History, Plants and Wildlife, Project COPE, Scuba, Shooting Sports (Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, Black Powder, and Archery), Wilderness Survival and White Water Rafting and more.

Who: Boy Scouts/Sea Scouts/Explorers age 14+, Venturing Scouts if at least 13 years of age and completed eighth grade, registered adult leaders

  • Youth must have completed the unit’s version of leadership training (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops, Ships, or Crews, etc.). National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is recommended.
  • Adults must be trained for their position.
  • All participants must complete Venturing Youth Protection and Hazardous Weather, Safety Afloat, Safe Swim Defense, and Climb on Safely training online completed prior to the course through myscouting.org.
  • Meet the physical requirements contained in the Annual Health and Medical Record physical

Cost: $175 ($25 early bird discount before paid in full by 3/30/18 & $50 late free after July 6)

Deposit: $50 non-refundable deposit due at registration.

*This course is not a total training program; it is a resource course and is not intended to enable leaders to be an expert in any aspect of outdoor skills. You may still need knowledgeable, trained, and certified individuals (consultants) to help provide a safe outdoor/high adventure program.
