Pere Marquette River Cleanup

2024 BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA ANNUAL PM RIVER CLEAN UP INFORMATIONAL SHEET
THIS EVENT IS FOR REGISTERED BOY SCOUTS AND THEIR LEADERS.
THERE IS A LIMIT OF 75 SCOUTS AND LEADERS – SO SIGN UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
TIME SCHEDULE:
Wednesday July 31st
!2:00 PM Arrive for Optional Camping @ Bowman Bridge Campground. Legends Wildlife Reservation will be giving Tours of there facility at 3:00PM.
Thursday August 1st
8:30AM Arrive at the parking lot of the Baldwin Canoe Rental & Continental Breakfast
9:30AM Orientation and divided into groups
10:00AM Dropped off at Put In Spot
12:00-3:00PM Picked Up at Take Out Spot and Shuttle Back to Baldwin Canoe Rental for lunch
3:00PM Depart for home or FREE camping
FREE CAMPING
There is free overnight camping at Bowman Bridge Campground for participants on Wednesday and/or Thursday. To get to the campground go west of Baldwin on 52nd Street. This makes a jog and becomes 56th Street. Turn right into the campground right after you cross the Pere Marquette River. Then make a quick left and go up the hill to the campground.
ADULT LEADERS
One adult is required for each eight Scouts. (Two deep adult leadership is required).
TRANSPORTATION -
Troops participating are to provide their own transportation to Baldwin Canoe Rental. Baldwin Canoe Rental will provide shuttle service to assigned put in and take out locations.
RECOGNITION
All Scouts will receive a PERE MARQUETTE RIVER CLEANUP PATCH.
EQUIPMENT
All canoes and personal floatation devices (PFD) will be provided free - only personal items will be needed (i.e. bathing suit, towels, extra socks/shoes, etc.) PFDs must be worn at all times by Scouts and Leaders while near water.
SAFETY
All participants, youth and adult, must wear a personal floatation device (PFD), and be classified as a “swimmer”. All leaders must be trained in BSA Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense. Orientation will also include a safety presentation provided by USDA Forest Service personnel.
CANCELLATION
If weather, safety, or other issues force cancellation of this event Scout leaders will be notified by phone or via text message as soon as possible.
Friday July 2nd
12:00 PM - Pack and leave campgrounds
WHAT ITEMS, SIZES, AND COSTS ARE TO BE LISTED?If you are choosing to camp- please make sure to bring the appropriate camping gear/attire.
ALSO, be sure to bring appropriate swimming attire/equipment.
